AN OSTEOPATH has been found guilty of a series of sex assaults on female patients, including an undercover policewoman.

Owen Bull, 49, formerly of Woodbridge Road East, Ipswich, was found guilty of attempted rape, two indecent assaults and a sexual assault at Norwich Crown Court yesterday , following a month-long trial.

He was cleared of a separate charge of sexual assault.

A jury will today continue to deliberate on two further charges of sexual assault and indecent assault.

Bull, who had denied all charges against him, which related to seven different victims over a three-year period, showed no emotion as the verdicts were read.

His wife, who was sitting in the public gallery, appeared close to tears after leaving the courtroom.

During the trial, the court heard how a policewoman took part in an undercover investigation into Bull following complaints from other patients.

The officer visited his surgery for treatment during July, August and September in 2005.

Giving evidence, she told the court how she had used secret recording equipment in the sessions and recorded both sound and images of Bull giving her treatment.

She told the court she had claimed to have an injury to her right shoulder and had visited Bull's Woodbridge Road East surgery four times.

Each time, she had been instructed to take off the clothing on the top half of her body and had laid on a couch. On the third visit, she said, Bull had started to touch her right breast.

She told the court: “He undid my bra and started rotating quickly my right shoulder.

“This caused my bra to drop down exposing my right breast. He then started rubbing the right side of my breast towards my back. He explained that this would release the ribcage. It continued for some time, at one stage he ran his fingers up and down my spine.”

Speaking about her fourth visit to Bull, on September 1, 2005, the officer said he again started touching her right breast.

She said: “He started to massage the right of my breast and the underside. He was massaging more of my breast than on the previous occasion.

“It was for a considerable time but I'm not able to put it into how many minutes, it was definitely more than two minutes.”

The court heard how the officer had raised the issue with Bull after the massage had continued and he had said something like 'okay, no problem'.

The jury was later shown the secret video that had been taken of the visit.

It was said that when officers viewed the film recorded by the hidden camera, they discovered that unbeknown to the undercover officer, who had been facing away from Bull, he had been fondling his genital area while touching her breast.

The jury is expected to continue its deliberations today.
