The news comes less than two weeks after Dean Stansby, 41, was stabbed to death in Ancaster Road, Ipswich.

Police have not yet confirmed if they are linking the two incidents.

Ian Durrant, 42 and who lives in Sinclair Drive, close to where the latest attack happened, said: “Of course it’s a concern, but these things seem to happen all over the place in all kinds of neighbourhoods.

“No one likes that kind of thing to happen on their doorstep.”

Other nearby neighbours, who did not want to be named, shared Mr Durrant’s worry.

One woman, of Brownrigg Walk, said: “It’s a concern, of course it is, but once I get indoors I keep myself to myself.

“It’s crazy today, people don’t sort out their disagreements and are quick to pick up weapons.

“It’s not going to be any different wherever you are, we just try and hope we can all get on.”

A resident who lives in a flat overlooking the industrial park said: “We are shocked.

“We always walk around here late at night and in the dark – never think twice about it. Kids are always playing out until late in the park near the flats.

“I would still go down to the shops at night near the industrial park where it happened, but I wouldn’t go in the industrial park.”

Another woman who lives in Wherstead Road said: “It’s scary, especially when that happens just few steps from your house.

“What on earth is happening to the human race? It’s beyond words.”
