Ipswich’s spectacular Christmas lights are being switched on with the help of an all-star pantomime cast.
Thousands are expected at this year’s annual event at the Cornhill on Thursday November 17 - the first late night shopping Thursday of the year.
The event promises some musical magic, with some of the cast of the Regent Theatre’s upcoming panto Sleeping Beauty set to turn up.
Led by stage and radio personality Wayne Bevin, special guests include ‘Mr Pigs Gone Wild’ Norman Lloyd, known for his fundraising work with the St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.
The fun begins at 5pm with the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Roger Fern, set to press the button to illuminate the twinkling lights at 6.45pm.
Bryony Rudkin, deputy leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said: “We are all looking forward to another wonderful event.
“It’s a night of great shopping, great fun and plenty of entertainment all heralding the start of the county town’s festive celebrations.”
