A disability charity is seeking public votes to boost its chances of receiving a £12,500 solar panel grant for its centre in Ipswich.

Papworth Trust said the grant for its Foundation Street centre would allow it to offer more services to disabled people in the town.

Today is the last chance for people to vote for the charity in the M&S Energy Fund, which would see solar panels fitted on the roof of the chairty’s building, helping it to continue its commitment to the environment while making savings on electricity and heating. It would mean the money saved would be redirected to providing additional services to help social interaction and confidence-building.

Jo Revitt, corporate partnership fundraiser at the charity, said: “It is not often a charity is asking for something – but not money.

“But we are asking the public to consider voting for our Foundation Street to win a grant that would make such a difference to the lives of the disabled people we support in Ipswich. There are some amazing things going on in Foundation Street – from a fantastic gardening project to woodwork classes and cooking.

“This all help provide the people we support with life skills, social interaction and confidence-building. And with the public’s help, we can do even more.”
