PARAMEDICS were called to treat port workers at the scene of a chemical spillage at Harwich International Port.

Police said the incident happened shortly before 9.30pm last night on Parkeston Quay and fire and ambulance crews were in attendance.

A spokesman for Essex Police said the chemical appeared to be carbon dioxide, known as dry ice.

He said a number of people, believed to be workers, were being treated by paramedics at the scene but their condition was not thought to be serious.
