Kayleigh Pooley, 30, and her partner of 11 years Duane Wright, 32, welcomed the first baby born in Ipswich in 2016 – Halle Rose Wright.

She was born at 6.18am, seven days early, weighing 6lbs 6oz.
Ms Pooley, of Colchester Road, Ipswich, said their son Damari, five, will look forward to caring after his first sibling.
She said: “It is exciting to have the first baby born in Ipswich this year. I thought their might be a chance of an early birth as Damari was born early, but I didn’t expect to give birth on New Year’s Day.
“We saw the fireworks driving to the hospital at around midnight but I was unaware it was New Year’s Day when giving birth, until realising later. It makes it extra special, and the hospital staff were excellent.”

Mr Wright, a self-employed builder, added: “We are very happy, and now have a boy and a girl.”
Framlingham couple Laura Crossley, 34, and James Coward, 30, celebrated the arrival of their first child, Polly Ella Coward, at 6.13am, weighing 8lbs 10oz.

Ms Crossley said: “She was due on New Year’s Day so she was on time. One of the midwives said that only 4% of babies are actually born on their due date.
“We are delighted and she will always be guaranteed a great birthday party!”
Ipswich Hospital A&E nurse Joanne Sparkes, of Witnesham, gave birth to a baby boy, who is not yet named, at 7.45am, weighing 7lbs 7oz, on her due date.
Mrs Sparkes, 38, said her family, including her partner Colin Elliott, 38, and their two-year-old son Leighton, are “delighted”.
Six babies have so far been born at Ipswich Hospital today, with at least one more expected later this evening.
