A headteacher who was cleared of assaulting a child 12 months ago has still not returned to work.

David Dee was found not guilty of assault by South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in September last year.

At the time he was headteacher of Cedars Park Community Primary School, in Stowmarket. Since Mr Dee, the school has had three interim headteachers.

Anna Molony was announced as current interim headteacher in July.

Before her Mark Cresswell, who had also worked at Combs Middle School, was in post. Sue Cross was interim headteacher before Mr Cresswell.

One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said fellow parents were “deflated” and “frustrated” because they had “not heard anything” on why there was no permanent headteacher.

After the school was contacted by this newspaper, Andrew Knights, chairman of governors, said: “...there is no further information other than that already in the public domain.”

A school newsletter published in July said: “Headteacher situation: Due to the nature and confidentiality of this issue, we are unable to share detailed information.

“Please be assured all parties are working together to bring this to a conclusion as soon as possible.

“The governing body has appointed Mrs Molony who will be our interim headteacher for as long as is needed.”

The parent added: “I think the parents are fed up, it’s taking so long – we do not know what’s going on.

“They’ve just said it’s confidential and cannot tell us anything.”

Governors accepted in July that parents had not been given “sufficient notice” about Mr Cresswell’s departure earlier this year.

In a letter to parents, Mrs Molony said that she was a “specialist interim head” who works full-time at schools “for as long” as a governing body needed.
