Trains running between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds this afternoon are being cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted via Ely.

A freight train which was blocking the Ipswich-bound line was removed at around 4.30pm, but residual delays caused by the blockage are expected to disrupt services until at least 6pm.

The first train affected was the 13.50 Peterborough to Ipswich.

A spokesman for Abellio Greater Anglia said: “We are sorry if your travel plans are affected by this disruption.”
