FAMILIES can look forward to a cracking weekend which will remain dry for fireworks night.

Bonfire celebrations are set to go with a bang but evenings are getting colder with 8C as tonight's minimum night-time temperature, dropping to 6C on Saturday and Sunday night.

However, there won't be rain so it's just right for families planning a night out to watch colourful firework displays.

Hot on the heels of Halloween, children are now getting ready to put on their coats, hats, scarves and wellie boots and enjoy munching sizzling hot dogs round the bonfire.

Star weatherman Ken Bowers, said: "Tomorrow is going to become cloudy but will remain dry for the firework displays. Sunday will still be dry but will be a little bit cooler.

"The dry evening for fireworks is good news because in previous years it is sometimes teeming with rain."

He predicted tomorrow's daytime temperatures at 14C or 57F and Sunday's highest 13 C or 56 F.

Meanwhile, as the days get shorter and the nights get longer the autumn months bring a natural beauty to Suffolk life.

It is shown in these two pictures, taken in Ipswich by Evening Star photographers Richard Snasdell and John Kerr, of a squirrel among fallen leaves in Christchurch Park and a couple walking in Holywells Park,

They are just two of many images that are set to become more prevalent over the coming few days as autumn begins to set in.

Beautiful colours of oranges and gold will fill the Suffolk landscape and provide a crisp sensation under the feet of walkers.

And the air will become cooler as the first signs of the approaching winter start to set in.
