RAIL services between East Anglia and London were disrupted during today's morning rush-hour after a man was seriously injured in an accident near Norwich station.

The man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after he was involved in the accident with a train heading into Norwich from Great Yarmouth.

All rail lines out of Norwich station were closed for about 30 minutes while emergency services went to his aid, forcing the cancellation of the train which forms the 7.23am service from Ipswich to London.

Other trains were delayed and the cancellation meant other services were more crowded.

Commuter trains which start from Ipswich were not affected.

The line was partially opened by 7am and fully reopened by 8.15am.

Jonathan Denby from rail operator 'one' said: “This incident did cause major problems for us at a very busy time but we worked hard to ensure everything got back to normal as soon as possible.”
