Pervert jailed for child porn offences

PAEDOPHILE Michael Sweeney has been jailed for 21 months today for hoarding nearly 38,000 child porn images.

Computer expert Sweeney, 31, of Whitby Road, Bury St Edmunds, had 37,491 images on his computer.

Of these, 705 were at level five, the highest level of seriousness, featuring images including torture.

Judge John Devaux said: "The storage of images like this lead to further abuse of children and encourages those who disseminate this material to continue to do so and so the evil trade is perpetuated."

Judge Devaux also ordered Sweeney to serve an extended licence period of three years following his release.

Sweeney, who works in information technology, was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register.

Meanwhile pervert Graham Davey is today also behind bars for possessing and distributing sick pictures of young children.

Sales assistant Davey, 20, of Bramford Road, Ipswich, admitted 11 counts of downloading and one of distributing indecent images between December 1 and December 18 last year.

Four of these were at the highest level, level five.

Davey at first denied the charges after police raided his home and said the images made him sick, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

But he accepted the offences after police had analysed his computer. He had used filesharing software Kazaa to download and distribute the images.

Prosecuting Robert Sadd said: "When confronted with the evidence Davey did make a confession and admitted he wanted other people to get the same pleasure that he got from them."

Sentencing Judge Devaux said: "You are addicted to images of this kind and there is a real danger that you will revert to this again when you get access to the internet."

Davey was jailed for nine months for the offences and will be on licence for a further three years upon release. He was also forced to sign the Sex Offenders' Register.
