ABANDONED family photographs have been found left in a carrier bag next to a bin by an Ipswich couple.

A young woman named Julie and her partner asked not to be identified but said they wanted to make an attempt to find the owner of the photographs or their family.

They came across the large collection of holiday and wedding snaps that may hold sentimental value for someone, while picking up waste paper on Lambourne Road in the town.

Thinking that the bag may have been left behind by mistake or perhaps found and discarded by new house owners, it was brought to The Evening Star in the hope that the contents could be reunited with its owners.

The bag contains many photos from the fifties and sixties and a few carefully composed photograph albums.

The couple that feature throughout are Fred and Hilda Stoneham who appear to have lived in London for a while but who may have some living relatives in the area who would be interested in the collection.

Their niece Karen is pictured, as is a wedding photo dated January 22, 1966, and inscribed: "Love to Hilda and Fred, from Rene and Harry."
