Ipswich Building Society has been named as the community engagement partner for one of Suffolk’s biggest ever mass participation and public art events.

The Pigs Gone Wild project will see around 40 pig sculptures set out on a trail around Ipswich and the Waterfront next summer in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.

Ipswich Building Society will now work with the project’s education partner to support school outreach, delivering financial education in a “fun and engaging” way to youngsters.

Paul Winter, chief executive of the Ipswich Building Society, said: “Pigs Gone Wild will add a bit of fun and extra colour to Ipswich and will help to raise vital funds for St Elizabeth Hospice which does fantastic work in improving the lives of people living with progressive illnesses.

“We are proud to be a part of the event and will work closely with the hospice and other event partners to make it a success.”

After the 10-week extravaganza next summer, the pig sculptures will be auctioned off. It is hoped £100,000 will be raised for the hospice.

Norman Lloyd, special projects manager at the hospice, said: “Ipswich Building Society is a company with very deep roots in Ipswich, and are very active in the local community, so we are thrilled to have them as a partner.”

Artists can submit up to three designs of life-size pig sculptures to be featured in the art trail. Call 01473 723600 or visit www.pigsgonewild.co.uk
