LOWESTOFT police are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year old Essex woman had her handbag stolen in the town on Tuesday (July 23).The woman was walking with six children in St Margarets Road when she stopped at the junction with Royal Avenue to attend to one of the children.

LOWESTOFT police are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year old Essex woman had her handbag stolen in the town on Tuesday (July 23).

The woman was walking with six children in St Margarets Road when she stopped at the junction with Royal Avenue to attend to one of the children.

As she stopped a man ran from the direction of Jubilee Way and bumped in to the woman. After apologising her helped her to her feet. A short time later the woman realised her bag had been stolen.

The man is described as white, aged 24 to 30, 6ft tall, slim, with short-cropped dark hair. He had a small scar on his cheek and was wearing blue jeans, a black top and white trainers.
