POLICE have confirmed nearly four days of Operation Stack is now at an end and have labelled the new system “a success”.

A police spokesman woman said that the operation - which now stacks lorries during temporary closures of Felixstowe Port on the old A45 at Levington - was lifted at around midday today.

She said the new location for Operation Stack had been well received by lorry drivers and on the whole had been a success.

She added they would like to thank the lorry drivers, hauliers, residents and local businesses for their patience and co-operation and said the forecast for the next 24 hours was calm.

Operation Stack, which usually swings into action during high winds, previously used the A14 to queue up lorries, which was found to create unnecessary congestion for motorists.
