POLICE have finished their search of the Kent house where the bodies of two missing girls were discovered.

Essex Police said every inch of the Margate property had been searched and examined forensically.

Now the former home of Peter Tobin has been boarded up and is being preserved as the investigation continues.

The bodies of Vicky Hamilton, from Scotland, and another girl, who police believe to be that of Dinah McNicol, from Tillingham, were found in the Irvine Drive house.

Tobin, 61, lived at the address at the centre of the probe for a short time in 1991.

A police spokesman said: “The task now is to assess the evidence and build a case against the person, or people, responsible.

“We are also in the process of liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service. Due to the current status of the investigation, we are not in a position to disclose any further detail at this stage.”
