A 17-year-old girl was among those arrested after armed police raided two homes on Allenby Road in Ipswich.
Police were called just after 4.45pm on Friday, September 21, by someone who believed a person at a house in Allenby Road was in possession of a firearm.
The road, which is opposite the Hadleigh Road Sainsbury’s supermarket in the west of the town, was cordoned off at both ends, with police asking the occupants of two houses to leave their homes.
Both were searched and police found a firearm in the garden of one of the properties. Nobody was harmed during the incident.
Two men, aged 32 and 27, and a 17-year-old girl, all from Ipswich, were arrested in connection with the incident a short time later. All were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
The 32-year-old man has now been bailed to return to police on Saturday, October 13 and the other man and teenage girl have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Neighbours gathered close to the cordon on Friday afternoon as they waited to be let back into their homes.
One resident said: “I came back from work at around 5.55pm and the road was closed off, they have told me I cannot go back to my home.”
She said she had seen officers entering a property with police dogs.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “Police would like to thank the public for their assistance during the incident.”
