SUFFOLK police are urging members of the public to ignore a scam email, which states someone has been hired to kill you.

Since 9.30am this morning police have received around six calls from members of the public across the county who have been sent the scam emails.

On each occasion the victim has received an email in which the sender says he has been paid to kill him.

The email goes on to say a friend wants him dead, that he is not to contact the police and makes threats about his family.

It then states that he can pay to have his life spared and requests a large sum of cash.

Police investigated a similar email sent to an individual last year and a number of similar scam emails have been reported nationwide. The email is believed to have originated in Nigeria.

Officers advise people not to reply to the email in any way.
