A fire which damaged the front room of a terrace house in Ipswich tonight after a settee caught fire on the street outside is being investigated by police.

The fire spread through the open window of the two-storey terrace house in Kenyon Street, Ipswich.

One firecrew was called to the scene at just after 10pm and was later joined by a second crew. They had brought the fire under control by 10.40.

A fire service spokesman said police were at the scene as the fire was being treated as “suspicious''.
