Detectives are looking to trace a man who is alleged to have run away from the scene of a late-night stabbing in Ipswich.

Police were called to Dickens Road by paramedics at around 10.10pm last night to reports a man had been stabbed in the area.

The victim, a man in his 30s, said he was walking along Dickens Road near its junction with Kelly Road with his girlfriend.

He is then said to have been approached from behind by a man who shouted before stabbing the victim in the thigh with a small knife.

Police say the victim was left with a single stab wound – he was checked over by paramedics but was not taken to hospital.

Now officers are looking to trace a white man in his 20s following the incident.

He is described as being 5ft 6in tall, and was wearing jeans and a black hooded top with camouflage sleeves at the time.
