POLICE in Norfolk are investigating the death of a woman who died days after a serious assault in King's Lynn.
POLICE in Norfolk are investigating the death of a woman who died days after a serious assault in King's Lynn.
The 58-year-old South Lynn woman, who originates from Lithuania, died on Tuesday.
She had been found conscious in Wisbech Road at 10.10am on Saturday with injuries consistent with assault
She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn but her condition deteriorated and she died on Tuesday evening.
A Home Office post mortem was carried out on Wednesday, as a result of which police are treating the woman's death as suspicious.
The results of the post mortem have not been made available at this time. An inquest will open in due course.
A 41-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation on Tuesday evening remains in police custody.
The investigation is being led by det chief insp Neil Firm.
