A Felixstowe police officer was attacked in the early hours today while he tried to deal with a disturbance.

The assault happened in the Pram Walk area of Garrison Lane, Felixstowe at around 2.

The assault happened in the Pram Walk area of Garrison Lane, Felixstowe at around 2.20am.

Pc Tim Cohen received a cut to the back of his head that required seven staples as he was treated in hospital.

Three men, all from the Felixstowe, are currently in custody in connection with the incident.

Inspector Ben Cook said: "Assaults on police officers while performing their duties are happening too frequently. This is the third occasion in a few weeks in which officers have been injured while carrying out their duties."
