SUFFOLK police have renewed their appeals for information after the attempted rape of a member of staff at a Haverhill primary school.The 52-year-old woman bravely fought off her attacker who struck at Burton End Primary School shortly after 6pm on May 17.

The 52-year-old woman bravely fought off her attacker who struck at Burton End Primary School shortly after 6pm on May 17.

She scratched and bit them man as he tried to pull her trousers down and threatened her with a knife. He eventually fled the school, leaving the woman extremely shaken and with injuries to her ribs.

Detectives investigating the attack have carried out house to house enquiries in the area but have had only seven positive calls to their enquiry line.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Beach said: "Although we are grateful to those who have come forward, we are disappointed with the response and would urge anyone who has any information regarding this attack to contact us.

"The would-be sex attacker is likely to have scratch and/or bite marks to his body and face and we need to hear from anyone who knows of someone who has received such injuries."

The man who attempted to rape the woman is described as white, in his mid 30s, about 5ft 10ins, with short spiky hair. He was unshaven and wearing an off-white top and grey jogging bottoms.
