Police search for Hollesley escapee

SUFFOLK police are hunting a man who absconded from the Hoxne Unit at Hollesley Bay Prison on Saturday.

Lawrence Philip Hughes, 28, who is serving a life term for the murder of his girlfriend, was last seen at 6.

SUFFOLK police are hunting a man who absconded from the Hoxne Unit at Hollesley Bay Prison on Saturday.

Lawrence Philip Hughes, 28, who is serving a life term for the murder of his girlfriend, was last seen at 6.50pm and was discovered missing at 8pm.

He is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, with an oval face, brown hair, hazel eyes and of medium build. He also has a large scar on his neck.

Hughes is known to have contacts in London and Hampshire.

Police are urging anyone who should recognise him not to approach him but to contact them immediately using 999.
