Police are searching for the driver of a lorry that failed to stop after an accident on the westbound lane of the Orwell Bridge.

The accident happened at about 10.50am on Tuesday morning when the lorry was in collision with a blue Mazda MX5 in the outside lane of the dual carriageway on the bridge.

The lorry failed to stop and continued westbound towards the Copdock Mill interchange, where it is believed to have then turned off on to the A12 southbound.

Officers completed a search of this route continuing down to the Essex border, but were not able to locate the lorry.

The driver of the Mazda car was left shaken after the collision but was otherwise not injured as a result of the incident.
