Suffolk police launched their inquiry yesterday morning, working to try and identify the female.
Her death is being treated as unexplained at the moment and it has been referred to the coroner.
A post mortem examination took place yesterday and the results are due today.
Police officers erected a cordon spanning around half a mile from the junction of Bentley Road and the Old London Road, with the junction in the village with Station Road.
Neighbours living near to the cordon awoke yesterday unaware of the drama which had been unfolding the previous night.
The cordon remained in place while police officers scoured the area conducting their inquiries into the matter.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said they had received a call from Suffolk police at about 6.50pm on Sunday.
One crew from Princes Street fire station were sent to the scene, and upon arrival they requested further back-up and were joined by another engine from Princes Street.
Firefighters were faced with a car which was reported to be well alight and which had spread to a nearby shed.
The blaze was under control by about 7.45pm.
