Regulars at a popular pub in Ipswich will not have long to wait before pints are being pulled from behind the bar once more.

IPSWICH: Regulars at a popular pub in Ipswich will not have long to wait before pints are being pulled from behind the bar once more.

The Suffolk Punch pub, in Norwich Road, has been closed since last week, causing concern and confusion among the community.

But The Evening Star can today reveal it will be reopening soon.

A spokeswoman for the owners of the pub, Enterprise Inns, said yesterday the closure was just temporary.

She said: “The Suffolk Punch has been closed while statutory works are carried out.

“We intend to reopen the pub as soon as possible.”

A spokeswoman for Ipswich Borough Council confirmed the licence for the pub has not been surrendered and so as far as they are aware the owners plan to continue running it.
