SONGS from celebrated composers George and Ira Gershwin will be among those played at an evening of jazz and gospel music in a Felixstowe church this weekend.

Mike Roberts and the Stilltime band will be the guests tomorrow from 6pm at the Ranelagh Road Christian Fellowship, Ranelagh Road.

Mike is a pianist and composer of smooth jazz, gospel and electronic music and is a worship leader at Hounslow Pentecostal Church, West London, a professor of music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and a freelance composer.

His concert is called The Good News according to Gershwin and will feature his own songs as well as a number by the Gershwins, such as the classic I Got Rhythm.

He has been developing the show in the last two years, and says the lyrics of the Gershwin songs, which are both comic and tragic, poignantly describe the human condition.

He hopes his lyrics and song introductions will help make the evening thought-provoking and enjoyable.
