The baby's body was discovered in the West Road area of the town on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said last night further tests will now be carried out on the body after a post mortem examination proved inconclusive.
A woman, believed to be the mother of the baby, continues to receive treatment at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury.
A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed to return to Bury police station on August 16 pending further enquiries.
