Police closed a lane of the A14 at Claydon after a large pothole caused damage to some cars.
A spokesperson for Suffolk police said they were called to the scene at 7.45pm on Thursday after a number of cars ended up having to pull into lay-bys because of damage caused by the pothole.
Highways attended the scene at 11.25pm and dealt with the pot hole and the lane was reopened.
