HOMES in parts of Suffolk have been without electricity since about 8am today after a power cut in the region.

The power cut affected houses and businesses in East Bergholt and Stratford St Mary and although electricity has been partly restored some homes are still without power.

A spokeswoman for EDF Energy said: “A fault on our overhead network interrupted power to 569 customers in East Bergholt and Stratford St Mary at 8.03am today.

“EDF Energy Networks engineers restored supplies to 383 customers between 9.39am and 12.32pm. Work is continuing to reconnect the remaining 186 customers as swiftly as possible.

“EDF Energy Networks would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
