Quick work by engineers has restored power to a number of households after a blackout in Ipswich this evening.

The number of customers that were affected is not known but UK Power Networks received at least 10 reports from the IP1 3, IP4 1, IP4 2, and IP4 4 post code areas.

A UK Power Networks spokesman said engineers were working to restore electricity supplies in the Bolton Lane and Withipoll Street area of Ipswich following a power interruption at 3.19pm today.

He said: “We understand how difficult it is being without power and would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”

Power supplies were back on between 5.30pm and 6pm.
