NEARLY 2,000 people in Rushmere St Andrew suffered a power cut in their homes at the weekend.

Power was interrupted to 1,986 EDF Energy customers in the Inverness Road at 10am yesterday due to an underground cable fault.

EDF Energy Networks engineers restored power to most people by 11.35am and the rest in stages throughout the day.

Power was restored to the final 299 customers affected by 11pm yesterday.

A spokeswoman for EDF Energy said: “We would like to apologise to all of our customers affected, for the inconvenience caused as a result of this incident.”

Some customers in the Woodbridge Road area may also have experienced a very short interruption to power as a result of EDF Energy Networks engineers re-arranging supplies to restore power to properties in Inverness Road.
