Power finally restored

Network engineers worked through yesterday to restore power after 440,000 homes in the east of England were affected.

An EDF spokesman said: “We thank our customers for their patience during the situation.

“About two months' worth of repair work, approximately 3,400 faults, was carried out in just five days, with power restored to 90per cent of customers affected within 24 hours.

Easton Primary School remains closed today despite power returning. Suffolk County Council said, along with Sir Robert Hitcham's Primary School in Framlingham, the school was staying shut because it had no power.
