ORGANISERS of the Ipswich and Suffolk Press Ball were thrilled today after one of the 2007 event's star performers battled his way through to the finals of TV's X-Factor.
Crooner Adam Chandler, 23, entered the TV spectacular, the brainchild of mogul Simon Cowell, as a solo artist at the time of this year's ball in June.
Adam, who wowed the Press Ball crowd with his songs, got through to the show's boot camp - but failed to progress to the final stages … until “Mr Nasty” Cowell stepped in.
With four other solo singers who also didn't won through, a new band, Futureproof, was formed. Last night ITV millions saw Adam's band progress to the live finals of the show, due to take place over the next few weeks.
Bridget York, of events specialists Entire Affair, who organise the annual ball for The Evening Star, said:
“I am thrilled Adam has made it through to the live finals, he has such a lovely disposition and deserves all the success in the world. I shall be watching anxiously over the next few weeks to see if the new boy band makes it! I know just how much this means to Adam as he is doing this for his mother, who put him forward for the XFactor in the first place.”
