SUFFOLK: Lives will be changed forever thanks one of the county's most glittering nights of the year.

Details of this year's Ipswich and Suffolk Press Ball were revealed today … and the event has a new title for 2010.

The ES 125 Ball has been named in honour of host title The Evening Star's 125th birthday this year.

A night of glamour and sophistication is on the cards for those who attend the event, in the sophisticated surroundings of Hintlesham Hall for the first time.

This year's event is set to be the most spectacular yet, it was revealed at a launch party last night where many of the sponsors and friends of the event gathered for a special reception.

The purpose of the evening, which will take place on Friday, June 25, is to raise thousands of pounds for two very special charities, Cystic Fibrosis and another, as yet unnamed, charity.

During the evening there will be an exquisite banquet in a draped marquee, as well as entertainment from Suffolk musicians and a band whose identity is being kept a closely guarded secret.

There will also be an auction with fabulous prizes and a number of events throughout the evening to raise as much money as possible for both charities.

Welcoming everyone to the launch event, Evening Star editor Nigel Pickover said: “The Ipswich and Suffolk Press Ball is 14 years old this year and we have helped many worthy causes over the years, thanks to our readers and sponsors.

“We've now moved our base to Hintlesham to further establish the event as Suffolk's most glamorous and exciting night of the year.”

Main sponsor of the event is Tiger.co.uk, a price comparison website.

Its managing director Graeme Kalbraier said: “Having supported the Press Ball from the very early days I am very proud that we have been part of raising thousands over the last 14 years for local and regional charities. Because it's local I, as the main sponsor, feel part of something very important.”

Dee Ludlow, managing director of Hintlesham Hall, said: “It's a great honour and privilege to be able to hold it and I'm delighted to have been chosen as the venue.”
