An Ipswich primary school choir added a few older voices to its ranks at the school's end of term music celebration this week.

Children from St Margaret’s Primary School, in Bolton Lane, joined forces with residents at Thornbank Care Home to sing in front of a packed hall of parents on Wednesday evening, June 21.

Pupils have been visiting the home in Westerfield Road for years, making friends and sharing stories.

They also get together for social events such as the school’s 175th anniversary celebrations, Comic Relief fund-raising and pantos.

Residents joined the choir a few months ago and now meet up once a week for practice.

Headteacher Kim Kelway said: “The idea was that pupils would go up once or twice a term to read to the residents.

“Then if there is anything exciting going on we would all get together.

“It is absolutely fantastic for our children to spend time with the residents, it is a really exciting initiative for our school.”
