PRINCESS Anne is due to visit Suffolk today.

The 56-year-old royal will perform a number of engagements in the county throughout the day.

A spokeswoman for the Princess said: “The Princess Royal is going to visit the Suffolk Punch Trust at Hollesley, near Woodbridge.

“She is also going to open the Aldeburgh Community and Sports Centre and then she will be going to the Aspire Centre in Yarmouth Road, Lowestoft.”

The Princess, who was given the title Princess Royal by the Queen in 1987, is also set to visit the Waveney Sunrise Scheme in London Road Lowestoft, the spokeswoman added.

A registered charity, The Suffolk Punch Trust was set up in 2002 to buy the Hollesley Bay Colony Stud of Suffolk horses.

The charity is currently planning to build an education and heritage centre, which will be open to the public.

Trust chairman Philip Ryder-Davies said: “We are delighted and honoured to be receiving a visit from the Princess Royal and have the opportunity to thank her personally fro the considerable support and encouragement she has given and continues to give the trust.

“This is a challenging project but when it is completed it will bring real educational benefits and considerable enjoyment to a very large number of people.”

In 1994 The Queen appointed the Princess a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
