TRAFFIC is on the move across the county but many motorists remain stuck in traffic queues.
The A12 heading towards Colchester, just past the Copdock Mill interchange, was blocked this morning as there were several minor prangs, and broken down vehicles along the trunk road.
A broken down tanker on the Colchester-bound carriageway, just before the turn off to Capel St Mary, also caused significant problems as it blocked both lanes. This was cleared by 11am.
A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: “There is a degree of movement on the roads, albeit slowly. There are no road closures at the moment.
“People seem to be taking our advice and only travelling if absolutely necessary.”
Traffic on the A14 at Great Blakenham is reported to be gridlocked at present.
There are also reports that several trees have fallen down across the region, although police say no major incidents have taken place.
