THE grieving family and friends of a teenager who was fatally injured when he was hit by a car will form a procession through the streets of his hometown before his funeral next week.

Scott Towler, 15, died after being struck by a car in Fore Hamlet, Ipswich, as he walked with friend Dean Bloomfield, who also died as a result of the crash, on May 30.

Scott, a pupil at the town's Stoke High School, will be laid to rest following a ceremony at St Mary the Elms Church on Friday, June 20.

Before the funeral service a cortege led by a coach and horses will leave Valley Road and make its way to the church.

Scott's family are inviting all of his friends to join them in the procession as it travels to the ceremony, which will start at 2.15pm.

It will be followed by a private service at the Ipswich Crematorium.

Since the accident, the scene of the crash has been visited by a steady stream of people shocked and upset by the tragedy. Many flowers have been laid at the site, while the boys' school has had a special assembly in memory of the pair.

The 33-year-old man charged with two counts of manslaughter in relation to the boys' deaths is set to reappear in court next week. Zulfcar Ali, of Boyton Road in Ipswich, is due to appear before the town's magistrates on Tuesday. (17/6) He is currently being held in custody.

At the opening of the inquest into the teenagers' deaths, held last week, the coroner heard that both boys died of head injuries as a result of the accident.
