PROTESTERS chained themselves to the gates of USAF Lakenheath to protest about the number of bombs dropped by Suffolk-based bombers during their recent tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Members of the East Anglian branch of Campaign Nuclear Disarmament (CND) took part in the protests yesterday.

An aircraft normally based at Lakenheath dropped the bomb which killed Ipswich teenager Aaron McClure and two other Royal Anglian soldiers serving in Afghanistan in August.
