For the first time in many years, residents in a Suffolk village are opening their gardens to the public.
Visitors will get the chance to see nine open gardens in Woolverstone, including those at Woolverstone House and Woolverstone Hall which were inspired by Gertrude Jekyll – one of the country’s most renowned horticulturists.
Jekyll created some 400 gardens in the UK, across Europe and in America, and her influence on garden design has been pervasive to this day.
Cottage gardens bursting with flowering plants will be available to view at the event along with traditional vegetable gardens for those interested in growing their own produce.
The open gardens is organised by Friends of Woolverstone, with parking Marina Road in the village. Some disabled parking is also available. Entry is £5.
Refreshments, including homemade cakes and cream teas, are available at the event, which takes place on Sunday, June 4, from 11am-5pm.
