POLICE in Ipswich are investigating after a teenage girl suffered a puncture wound to her back at a teenage disco in Ipswich.
The incident happened at an under18s disco at the Corn Exchange at about 9.50pm on Friday.
The 14-year-old victim from Ipswich felt a sharp pain between her shoulder blades and turned round to see a boy laughing with his friends and showing them an object he was holding. The youth was white, aged about 16, and wore baggy clothes.
Although the victim was not overly concerned, she informed her parents upon returning home. For peace of mind she was given a precautionary vaccination in hospital.
Detective Sergeant Alan Seaman said: "We do not know how this injury occurred, whether it was deliberate or accidental, or in fact what instrument was used.
"There is every possibility that this assault was the result of a prank. Witnesses have said they saw the possible offender laughing and joking with a group of youngsters following the incident.
"If you were among the group within the Corn Exchange and know the details, we would urge you to call us as soon as possible."
