STUDENTS were singing their hearts out at an Ipswich school to compete for the ultimate title of Pop Idol.Over 150 hopeful youngsters entered the competition at Chantry High, and were reduced to just 15 finalists after 2 gruelling auditions during the contest which took place.

Over 150 hopeful youngsters entered the competition at Chantry High, and were reduced to just 15 finalists after 2 gruelling auditions during the contest which took place.
The school hall was bursting at the seams as parents teachers and pupils cheered for their favourite pop idols.
True to the original TV program, the students were judged rigorously by a panel of outside judges, among them promoter, John Haessenthaler.
The winning 3 were Donna Huggins, 15, with 'Save the Best For Last', Chontice Emanuel, 15 with 'There Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and Sinead Gilardi, 13 who sang 'I will survive', all from Chantry.
And the young winners will be singing again as their prize is to open at the Action Proms, in Christchurch Park, Ipswich on July 26.
The school band, which played the backing music for the pop idols, will also be taking part in the 'Concert in the Park'.
Steve Wooldridge, deputy head of Chantry High, said: "It was a fantastic evening. It is a great honour for these kids to be opening the concert in the park. They've all done so well."
