A PUBLIC meeting to discuss controversial plans for new pylons in south Suffolk set to take place in Boxford today has been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.
The event, organised by energy firm National Grid, was due to be held at Boxford Village Hall between 12noon and 9pm but will now be held at a later date.
A National Grid spokeswoman said: “Owing to the inclement weather we are postponing the public consultation event at Boxford Village Hall on the proposed Bramford to Twinstead overhead line.
“We will rearrange an alternative date. Our main concern is people's safety and the risk of travel in the icy and snowy conditions.”
The showcase for the plans was to be the 11th of 19 that have been taking place across the county during the first stage of the public consultation process.
The next opportunities for residents to have their say will come at Assington and Leavenheath next weekend while more events are lined up for Newton, Bildeston, Monks Eleigh, Kersey and Castle Hedingham.
Dates, times and locations of the remaining meetings (times 12 noon-9pm):
Fri Jan 15 Assington Village Hall
Sat Jan 16 Leavenheath Village Hall
Wed Jan 20 Newton Village Hall
Thurs Jan 21 Chamberlin Hall, Bildeston
Mon Jan 25 Monks Eleigh Coronation Hall
Tues Jan 26 Kersey Village Hall
Thurs Feb 11 Castle Hedingham Memorial Hall
