Discount store QD has closed down its last remaining store in Ipswich after a fall in sales, the company has announced.
The store in St Matthews Street closed on Monday last week. It comes three years after the town centre branch also shut down.
Bosses at the company said they have “no plans” to open anywhere else in the town but remain “open to approaches”.
A spokesman for QD said: “The shop had been loss-making for some time and the company was ultimately not able to reconcile the decline in customer footfall, and associatively in sales, against the cost of running it, thereby forcing closure.
“QD does not have plans presently to open elsewhere in town but does remain open to approaches from landlords presenting retail sites that are suitable to need, at commercially-sustainable rent levels.”
The spokesman added: “Store customers have been referred to nearest alternative QD Store sites – Hadleigh and Stowmarket – and reminded of the option to shop at the company’s e-commerce site www.qdstores.co.uk.”
