THE Suffolk Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership is carrying out an exercise to find out about the childcare and early educational needs of children and families across the county.

In January OPERA Community Research, based in Norwich, will be distributing questionnaires to parents, employers and those who provide childcare in Suffolk.

The research is part of the government's National Childcare Strategy and will look at various aspects of childcare service provision.

Bryony Rudkin, member of Suffolk County Council's executive committee, said: "We believe that many parents would like to return to work but are unsure of their options or if they could afford childcare. We aim to discover from parents, what prevents them from using services, the types of childcare they are currently accessing for their children and their preferences."

Sue Thomas, chair of the Suffolk Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership added: "The results of this research will help us plan the development of childcare and early education services in the future. If you receive a questionnaire please take the time to complete it, as your views are important."
