Mr Fudge, 22 – known as James to his friends – went to Copleston High School in Ipswich.

When he left school he worked as a plant engineer, and was a reservist based at RAF Honington. He began his recruit training in January this year.

He will now go on to train as a weapons technician, starting with a year-long course at RAF Cosford.

James said: "I was really pleased to have won this award. It was very hard work, but worth it in the end."
