RAIL bosses will meet with a number of East Anglia's MPs today in Westminster to talk through the recent performance of the Great Eastern mainline.

The meeting, initiated by Network Rail, will include a joint presentation from their executives alongside National Express East Anglia, which will outline the basis of disruption to services out of Liverpool Street station this year and the measures that are being taken to prevent a reoccurrence of such incidents.

Patrick Hallgate, Network Rail's Anglia Route Director, said: “We recognise the serious impact that service disruptions have had on passengers using this route and this is why amongst many reasons we will be meeting their locally elected representatives.

“We are investing £150m in modernising Anglia's rail network, which includes a major project to upgrade 30 miles of over head power lines between Liverpool Street station and Chelmsford. This work has already begun and is expected to be complete by 2012. Andrew Chivers, Managing Director of National Express East Anglia, said he welcomed the meeting.
