RAIL passengers suffered delays today after a tree brought down overhead power lines.

Services on the Great Eastern mainline were disrupted after the incident, which happened about two miles south of Chelmsford this afternoon.

Some trains were running up to an hour late, while others were terminated prematurely.

Network Rail engineers were dispatched to the site and were trying to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
